In regards to the proposed law changes that would remove parent choice for vaccination in Oregon, here is the Oregon Association of Naturopathic Practitioner's official response. If you are a parent in Oregon please take the time to read this and reach out to your legislator if you feel so moved.
There are so many factors to consider in patient centered healthcare, and one-size-fits-all medical mandates are not the way to go to build healthy and trusting physician-patient relationships. There are so many details to this issue that need examined before our government makes a huge step like this.
Did you know that children who follow any vaccine schedule other than the CDC schedule are lumped in with the children who have never had a single vaccine? In a state with so many parents seeking their own path for their child's health, this drastically skews the statistics that are so often quoted as reasons that a government mandate is "needed."
Let's hope that our legislators take the time to really investigate all facets of this issue and listen to their constituents and that constituents take the time to make their voices heard.
